Something we SELDOM do is share our collections with each other! We each have a handful of favorite carved nickels... often they are our most expensive pieces but not always. Sometimes they are pieces we acquired under special circumstances. Ralph Winter, our BoTales Editor, is asking that you share the latter with our membership... along with their stories ...by sending him photos and stories for publishing in BoTales.
Like Ralph, I would like to facilitate the sharing of our most beautiful carvings with each other. So... even if you don't have an interesting story to share, I encourage you to send us digital photographs of your favorite carved nickels so I can show them here on our website. If needed, we can convert physical photos to digital for you.
The update of Steve Alpert's "Hobo Nickel Guidebook" is looming upon the horizon so select photographs obtained from as many member's collections as possible are desirable as candidates for inclusion in the new edition. We cannot promise you that your favorite carved nickel will be in the new edition of the Guidebook but if you don't send us a photo you can sure bet that it almost certainly won't be. ~ V-Dubya
Postscript: If you provide your own digital photos we need very high resolution ones... a minimum of 600dpi but preferably 1200dpi or even greater. We are aiming for carving photo diameters of 560 pixels but with the capability of cropping out specific details from the original picture should an area/subject of interest come up.
